Life is too short to be slowed down by pain. At Oakridge Chiropractic our goal is simple – to get you back to doing what you love to do without pain or discomfort, and to help you stay there.
Oakridge Chiropractic Centre has been operating in our current location inside the Oakridge Coop Shopping Centre for over 40 years. We have undergone a few changes and renovations during that time, but the level of care and warm reception you receive at our clinic remain unchanged.
The practice was originally owned and operated by Dr. David Walcott, back in 1976. His associate, Dr. Collin Watson, purchased the practice in 2004 after working here for five years. Shortly after, Dr. Ron Barlot joined the team. Over time, we have added a few more registered massage therapists and also a registered acupuncturist.
Our clinic now provides a range of complementary disciplines for the complete and effective treatment of a number of health conditions. Our 3-phased approach begins with providing the pain relief that you’re looking for, but it goes beyond simply providing a band-aid solution to your symptoms. By understanding and treating the root cause of the pain that’s holding you back, we can get your body back to functioning at its optimum level and ensure that this level is maintained.
Let us help you get back to living life to its fullest.
Our clinic boasts a team of professionals that are passionate about getting you back to doing what you love to do. We are not only experienced practitioners in our fields, but each of us maintain active lifestyles and therefore understand the importance of not being held back by your body. We take pride in providing a relaxed atmosphere and ensuring that our patients are comfortable, informed and confident throughout the entire process.
Skye
Always an enthusiastic supporter of chiropractic, massage and acupuncture, Skye joined the reception team in 2009. Shortly after meeting her now husband on vacation in Hawaii, she moved here from Vancouver and left her background in economics and the insurance industry behind. Skye’s life has evolved since then and with her three children now grown, she is focussed on enjoying her time with her three grandchildren. Along with her husband, they have been keen gardeners and beekeepers for many years and their backyard is filled with flowers to attract more bees and hummingbirds. Skye also loves to cook and create recipes, can be found camping and hiking during the summer months, and loves a good road trip.
Nina
Nina joined our team after a few years with Alberta Health Services. Nina has a keen interest in kinesiology and physiotherapy, having studied both as part of her undergraduate degree in dance. Her lifelong background in ballet, and being a mother of two competitive Irish dancers, has given her a profound respect for the art of chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture, having seen the benefits firsthand. Nina is heavily involved in the Irish dance community. She is also a dress designer of intricate Irish dance costumes, and dancers from all over North America and Europe wear her creations at Canadian and world competitions.
Erin Peet
Erin joined the office team recently and has been enjoying getting to know all the patients. She was blessed to have been able to stay at home with her two boys throughout their school years. In that time, she was very active volunteering in their schools as well as with various aspects of their racing careers. Both boys started racing go karts at the age of 7 and have continued with that into their adulthood. Recently, they both progressed to racing cars as well and this is a passion of Erin’s to watch them do what they love. Travel has also been a huge part of her life, and she was lucky to have been able to experience 33 countries on a 5-month world trip with her family seven years ago. Travel is still something she enjoys doing, just on a smaller scale, with sun and sand being the focus.
