Soft Tissue Injuries

Soft Tissue Injuries

Did you know chiropractors treat more than just back or neck pain? Chiropractors also treat the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and focus on how they relate to each other. The musculoskeletal system (MSK) is a catch-all term that includes not only the neck and back but all the structural elements of the body - including soft tissue. So, although most people associate chiropractors with the ‘cracking’ of the joints of the neck and back, they must also include treatment to any part of the human frame that doesn’t necessarily involve cracking (cavitation.)

Pain and dysfunction in our arms and legs may not always require releasing fixations in the joints. Tennis elbow, shin splints, tendonitis or plantar fasciitis are all examples of conditions that necessitate the assessment and treatment of the soft tissue -  that is, the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fasciae, fat and nervous system. Chiropractors may choose from a wide array of treatment options to care for the MSK system, which may include adjustments and/or soft tissue care. At Oakridge Chiropractic Centre, we are well equipped with the knowledge and equipment to treat most painful (soft tissue) conditions of the MSK and nervous system with treatments such as ART (Active Release Technique), Graston/FAKTR and shockwave.
